A co-worker gifted me an old Desktop he had because he was moving and had heard that I liked tinkering with old hardware. I installed Ubuntu 18.04 on it to turn this old desktop into a Home Media Server from which I could stream content to my smart TV and act as a file server for my other computers.
By researching a couple of guides online, I was able to enable full desk encryption on the server as well as remote unlocking of the server over SSH. Finally, I installed Plex for media streaming and Samba as my file share.
